Why Are My CPS Question Graphics On My Desktop?

by Kristy

Whenever I create a new question with a graphic, the graphic shows up on my desktop...so if I have 20 graphics I have 20 new icons on my desktop of the image? Why?

Corralling CPS Question Graphics On The Loose

Kristy,

If your CPS questions graphics are showing up on your desktop, then that tells us your database is saved on your desktop and not in a folder. It is recommended that you store your database inside a folder, because CPS does not save your actual image inside the question, but instead saves only a link to where it is located. If the image is not in the same location as your database, it will pull a copy of that image with it to your storage spot, so as not to be lost.

CPS will also autosave Excel files when using certain reports. By default these go to your storage spot as well.

To correct this issue, simply place your database inside a folder. This will cause those images to show up in the folder instead of on your desktop.

Once you move your database, you’ll need to open it from the new location so that CPS will make the new track to where the database is saved. If you open from the CPS shortcut, you will get a message saying that it cannot find your last database. This is because the database has been moved. Opening from the file itself after moving it will create the new track, and you should be fine.

Hope this helps.
