The Principal's CornerOne of our service center contacts brought to our attention the FromLtoJ Process, something creating quite a stir in the Midwest. This process eliminates the ability of students to cram and forces them to place knowledge into long-term memory. FromLtoJ appears to be a program similar to CPS in that it has the ability to change a way of teaching rather than being just another program or piece of equipment to add to a teacher's plate. It also looks to be a process that would blend quite readily with using CPS in the classroom. We hope to get more training in this process over the summer, but until then you can find information on this program at
Dr. Lee Jenkins's website.
Dr. Jenkins explains the problem of allowing our students to forget in the article,
The $100 billion problem: permitting forgetfulness
published in the March 2006 issue of School Administrator.
New Technologies With the Biggest Effect...
In the March 2006 edition of Instructor, tech expert Bryan Alexander of the National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education commented on which technologies were going to have the largest effects on classrooms. He listed:
TAKE OUR POLL
and let us know what technologies YOU think will have the biggest effect in our classrooms. View others' votes after you vote!
-- John Ruskin From The Desk Of...Dustin Frank Springtime is upon us and school will be out before we know it. Then comes the wonderful time of year when teachers get to take three months off...yeah right, they have no idea, do they? As you prepare for your summer activities and begin to put your inservice schedule together for next year, be sure to call early to schedule your CPS classes; days are filling up fast! Summer courses are always a great way to help teachers take advantage of some of the slower time and get things prepared for next year too. Here's to a strong finish for what I hope has been a successful school year! Sincerely,
