About Us

Engaging Technologies is a company started FOR teachers BY teachers.

Dustin and Cathy Frank began their math and science teaching careers in junior highs and high schools in Kansas. After starting the grand adventure that is the first year of teaching, they would - with some regularity - shake their heads and say, "Boy, kids have really changed since we were in high school." At that point, it had only been a few years since they themselves were out of high school!

After several years of teaching, they were introduced to the CPS by eInstruction by a family member, and it took them next to no time to realize how this could revolutionize the classroom. They immediately wanted to share it with every teacher they knew--and even those they didn't!

As their business has grown, Dustin and Cathy have continued to seek out products that will make a difference in the way that students learn and teachers teach in the classroom - products that assist teachers in involving, engaging, and motivating.

They are excited to share these products with their customers and are committed to servicing and supporting the products they sell. Most importantly, they are committed to training teachers on implementing technology with effective and engaging pedagogy.

Dustin and Cathy are excited to have found a team of passionate members like themselves who have taken hold of the Engaging Technologies commitment to improving education for a new generation of learners.

"Having seen our technologies in action in my own classroom and the tremendous effect they had on my students, I could not resist the opportunity to share with others. Working across Kansas and Nebraska over the past several years has allowed me the opportunity to spread the joy of using CPS and other interactive tools with teachers everywhere so they and their students can experience them for themselves and see up close and personal how powerful our tools are."

"I think back to the day we saw our first CPS system. We knew then that this was a classroom-changing technology. It's amazing to think how far classrooms have progressed since that day almost ten 10 years. We're encouraging collaboration in our classrooms, we're taking the classroom out into the world and bringing the world into the classroom, we're providing a better education to a larger number of learners, and more importantly, we are giving students the tools to learn how to think, rather than always what to think. To be a small part of the many successes that are happening in the classroom - it's really exciting."

"My career in education started at Edison High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where I was hired to work with students that were 'at-risk' of dropping out. My primary responsibility was to keep these kids in school (and off the streets) and get them to graduate. Since Edison was a violent 'gang school,' I chose to use Peer Mediation as a vehicle. So, after completing the training, I re-wrote the curriculum into a classroom model and approached the administration with my idea. I selected the roughest, toughest 'gang banging' kids in schools and enrolled them into my semester-long, elective class.

I became notorious for scrapping together any pieces of computers, LCDs, projectors, etc. I could get my hands on. Within 3 years, these very same rough, tough, 'gang bangers' were leading conflict resolution session and facilitating school-wide Peer Mediation Trainings. Technology has been an crucial part of my classrooms ever since. Using technology in addition to helping other teachers use technology in the classroom is my joy."

"I have worked with students for 10 years and educational technology for 3 years. I have seen first-hand how technology can be used effectively in the classroom and how imperative it is to involve every student. The "Me-Centric" students want to customize their learning to fit their needs, and the products offered by Engaging Technologies, such as clickers and the new Livescribe smartpen, do exactly that. I feel confident that I will be making a difference in the way students, including my own kids, learn on a daily basis."

"Technology in education has so many benefits. Not only can these tools engage students, but they can also lead to improved students proficiency in all content areas. An important aspect of this technology is that it should be transparent and not the main focus of the classroom. The products offered by Engaging Technologies do just this. I am eager to work with educators to show them how to use the Engaging Technologies products and integrate them into their classrooms."
