Engage and Motivate With Clickers

We repeatedly hear from CPS users that it's not hard to use clickers to motivate students. Clickers themselves motivate students to focus their attention. However, clickers combined with a little competition can also be a great motivator!

Check out these ideas you can use to motivate learners with clickers...

A Little Friendly Class Competition

Matt Flynn, middle school social studies teacher in Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools, uses the motivation of a little friendly clicker competition between classes.

Matt uses clickers on an almost daily basis. Each day, one class earns a tally mark on the board by earning the highest percentage on review questions answered on their clickers. At the end of the week, the class with the most tally marks earns a free homework pass or another "goodie" of Mark's choice.

In the event that two or more classes tie with the highest daily percentage, neither class gets the tally; it goes to the teacher.

I don't know about you, but I see kids, especially middle school kids, eating this up! This could very easily be used with post-test scores as discussed on our Pre-Post Testing page.
