Deliver Pre-Post Testing Easily With Clickers
CPS makes it easy to gather data from pre-post testing monthly, weekly, and even daily. Using Student-Managed Assessment mode in CPS,
teachers can make answer keys in a matter of seconds and then gather data from students for continual checks of understanding.
This is great data to use as a motivating factor in your classroom.
To Create Quick Pre/Post Tests:
- Questions to the test can be posted on the board, an overhead, or even on paper for the students to view.
- Create a "Fast Grade" lesson within CPS. This allows you to only enter the answers (a, b, c, etc.), rather
than typing in the entire question.
- Engage the lesson by selecting one of the three delivery options: Student Managed Assessment,
Student Managed Practice, or Teacher-Led Student Managed. You can even use
CPS verbal mode
to deliver your pre-post testing.
Below are some ideas for incorporating pre/post tests:

What Did You Learn Today?
One CPS user from Omaha Public Schools related the account of his school-age daughter.
When she came home from school and he asked her what she had learned, she would reply, "Nothing." So, he set out to change
that in his own classroom. This CPS user gives a pre-test as seatwork when students enter the room.
This pre-test covers the new information that will be covered that day in class.
After the lecture time
and at the end of the class period, the very same test is given as a post-test. Their class goal is to make
an 80% on the post-test everyday.
Each student has a vested interest in improving the class post-test
score and leaves feeling like they have learned something during that class period. In this classroom,
their gain in knowledge has a number. When that number goes up during the class period, they can't deny
they've learned something!
